Couple killed, their 2 children injured in Nadia Road Mishap


Kamal Duta, Sting Newz Correspondentnt, Nadia: A man and his wife were killed and their 2 children were injured when their car collided head on with a truck on National Highway 34 at Muragachha area under Haringhata police station in Nadia early on Monday, police said.

Sources stated that Shibaprasadh Saha (55), a rsident of Ranaghat Kamarpukuria in Nadia went to attend a marriage ceremony in Kolkata. His wife Annapurna (47), daughter Sriparna (22) and son Akash (14) accompined by him. While their car reached at Muragachha, it collied with a truck. It was around 12:30 a.m on Monday. They all were rushed to Kalyani JNM Hospital where Shibaprasadh and Annapurna were declared brought dead. On the other hand, Sriparna and Akash are under treatment with serious injury. But the injury of the driver of the car Basudev Majumder of Gangnapur is not serious.

According to the police, the truck was coming along NH-34 slowly from its standing position and the driver of the ill-fated car tried to over take it with a high speed and collided. Sibaprasadh sat at front seat of the car and his wife Annapurna was just at his back. The car received the hit at its left and front right wheel of the truck came over the car. That was why the couple got so severe injuries and succumbed to death.

It is reported that Shibaprasadh has a spectacle shop at Ranaghat. Sriparna is a student of M.Sc in Kalyani University. Akash is class 9 student.

Police said, the driver of the killer truck fled. Police seized both the vehicles.
