National Convention for CA Students organized by the Board of Studies of ICAI

Press Release / Kolkata: Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) jointly with Eastern India Chartered Accountants Students’ Association (EICASA) under the aegis of Board of Studies, ICAI today organized a Two Day National Convention for CA Students on the theme ‘Aashayein – The Glimpse of a Better Tomorrow’ on 16th & 17th July, 2016 at Centenary Auditorium of College Street Campus of the University of Calcutta.

The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Keshari Nath Tripathi, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal; CA.Nilesh Vikamsey, Vice-President, ICAI who inaugurated the National Convention for CA Students & the list of Guests of Honour included eminent personalities like CA Anirban Datta, Convention Coordinator & Chairman, EIRC; CA Manish Goyal, Convention Coordinator & Vice-Chairman, EIRC & Chairman, EICASA; CA. Babu Abraham Kallivayalil, Chairman, Board of Studies, CA. Dhiraj Kumar Khandelwal, Vice Chairman, BOS; CA. Debashis Mitra, CCM & Member BOS; CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, CCM & Member BOS; CA. Sushil Kumar Goyal, CCM & Member BOS & others.

The Convention provided an opportunity for Chartered Accountants students across the country to meet and discuss matters of their interest as C.A. students. Paper presenters from across the country presented their papers in an excellent way. Special knowledge sessions were conducted by renowned speakers from the specialized fields. Speakers were invited to give the talk on various professional and motivational topics covering Financial Reporting and Assurance, Companies Act 2013, Taxation, Economy & Current Affairs, Corporate Law. More than 1200 CA students have registered from across India.Ca

While addressing the students Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Hon’ble Governor said “The Chartered Accountancy is a dynamic and rewarding profession. The functions generally performed by the Chartered Accountancy are unique and quite varied. In your journey to become a successful professional, you should use the opportunities that come your way to the fullest so that you possess the required skills in addition to the theoretical knowledge. He also added that the Theme “AASHAYEIN: THE GLIMPSE OF A BETTER TOMORROW” reflects the future expectations of the students in their lives and also it would help them to have a good future. Each one has dreams in their eyes, which is well reflected in the theme. The aim that you want to achieve and the heights that you want to reach is the best motivation in a student’s life. Remember, your future is integrated with the future of this great Nation. If you succeed, Nation will succeed. You have to lead us and win our struggle against poverty, unemployment and hunger all the social evils. I am very happy to see that Girls are proving their excellence in CA Exam and in the profession. I congratulate all the female Students for joining this great profession.”

The Board of Studies (BOS) is the Academic wing of the Institute. Apart from preparing and continuously revising comprehensive study materials and revision test papers, practice manuals, BOS also organizes National and International convention of students, seminars, career counseling sessions, quiz and debate contests, entering into MOUs with Indian Universities / Overseas Accounting bodies for working out mutually beneficial schemes.

Speaking to the media, CA Anirban Datta, Chairman, EIRC said, “Chartered Accountancy profession cannot achieve great heights being only academically good; overall personality development is the essence for a shining future and it is very important that they brush up their communication and presentation skills as well.”

On this occasion CA Manish Goyal, Vice Chairman, EIRC & Chairman, EICASA said, “ICAI is the only professional educational institution which has a strong nonpolitical students wing which works for the betterment students who are pursuing Chartered Accountancy course and this helps the students to come out as a true professional in their future career.”
