Pradyut Dutta, Sting Newz Correspondent, Nadia: Two Pedestrians were killed and one cyclist was seriously injured when a matador van hit them on NH 34 at Mayakol area under Dhubulia police station in Nadia at around 12.05 pm. on Tuesday, police said.
A matador van, moving towards Krishnagar from Berhampur along wrong lane, suddenly tried to take the right lane through the gap between dividers in a high speed. Some Pedestrians and a cyclist were waiting near the gap with a view to cross the National Highway. Allegedly the driver failed to control the steering wheel and hit them.
The injured persons were rushed to Shaktinagar hospital in Krishnagar where the two Pedestrians were declared brought dead. The injured cyclist was referred to NRS Hospital in Kolkata.
While the deceased were identified as Bangshi Ghosh (64) of Bahadurpur and Malina Ghosh (62) of Mayakol, the cyclist was identified as Tapas Ghosh of Bahadurpur, all in Nadia.
Police seized the matador van but the driver fled away.
